A multicultural church: do you have to be intentional about creating that atmosphere (i.e., have it as a core value) in order to have one? Yes or No – and why?

It depends on where you are. In small town East Texas where I live and pastor, it would take great intentionality to create a multicultural church. We have not only at leats a century of racism to overcome, but also a long ingrained negative response to that racism (i.e. a history to live down).
Richard,
Thanks for sharing your perspective. What about other forms of multicultural ministry? If multiracial carries too much baggage, what about multiclass or multigenerational?
